Although there are many geckos living in South East Arnhem Land, we could not find many traditional Aboriginal names for different species. Geckos are referred to with “group” names such as Yaminji (Marra) and traditional language group names are listed in the table below.

Other geckos found in South East Arnhem Land include: Spiny-tailed Gecko, Zigzag Velvet Gecko, Pale-striped Ground Gecko, Crowned Gecko, Fat-tailed Diplodactylus, Northern Dtella, Northern Spotted Rock Dtella, Marbled Velvet Gecko and Bynoe's Gecko

Found on the ground and sometimes under tin sheets.

Snout-vent length: 50mm
Light brown, dark brown or reddish; varies from blotchy pattern to banded pattern; whitish lips. Lumps (tubercles) on back arranged in rows; common.
Clawed toes (not normal gecko lamellae under toes).
